We’ve been making bulb letters for a long time and are the UK’s most famous signmaker for this type of sign. As well as winning awards, being thanked by No.10 Downing Street and being featured extensively across the national press, you’re more than like to have seen our letter lights in a shop, pub or restaurant across the country – you just may not have known that it was us that made it.
Large Bulb Letters
The most commonly asked-for size of bulb letters is probably about 300mm high, but we can in theory make them as large as you wish. We’ve produced huge bulb letter signs for the top of factory buildings and for outdoor festivals, so don’t feel that you’re limited in any way. We use high-efficiency CE-marked LEDs, so even when we start to put a high volume of LEDs into the letters, they still operate in a very efficient way.
Custom-made Bulb Letters
All of our signs are custom-made – including our famous bulb letters – meaning we’ll produce your letters exactly how you want them. Everything is up to you, and as well as discussing all of the exciting decisions with you including shape and colour, we’ll also discuss some of the finer detail to make sure the look just like you imagined when they get delivered to their final home.
Bulb Letter Light – Options
Apart from the actually delivery day, discussing the design of your bulb letters tends to be the most exciting part. They key design elements to think about are the overall shape of your design (most clients let us know the type of font they like), the colour of the letters themselves and the bulbs that go in the letters, and the size of the bulb letters. We’ll share drawings with you to bring to life how they’ll look before we schedule your letters in for production. Exciting stuff.
Lead times for Bulb Letters
All of our bulb letter lights are designed and produced here in the UK, meaning we have control of the production process. The lead time depends on the complexity of the design as well as how busy our workshop is, but our typical lead times are 10-15 working days. We can often turn things around a lot faster if needs be, so do contact us to discuss your project.
Self-standing Bulb Letters
Can our bulb letters self-stand? Of course! Just make sure you let us know in advance. Many clients choose to fix the bulb letters to the wall, whilst some prefer to have them self-standing – especially if the letters are large. In that instance we can either choose fonts with flat bottoms and make sure they can be fixed to the floor, or alternatively we can provide a plinth fof them to stand on, just like with the TASTE bulb letters in the photo above.

Bulb Letters are back on trend, so here we answer your most frequently asked questions to help make sure the bulb letters we design and supply for your project are exactly as you require.
What colour bulb letters can I get?
There are two colour elements to bulb letters – the colour of the letter casing and the colour of the bulbs themselves. We can powdercoat (professionally paint) the casing any standard RAL colour, which gives a lot of options which we can share. The standard cabochon bulb colours are Clear, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Turquoise and Violet.
How long do the bulb letters last?
We take our ESG responsibility extremely seriously, and as such, everything we produce is designed to be fixable. The LEDs in our bulb letters typically last for 25,000 hours, and even then are very cost-effective to replace.
How long does it take to make bulb letters
All of our bulb letters are made here in the UK meaning we can turn them around very quickly. Typically this is 10-15 working days but we can supercharge them through the workshop if you have an urgent project.
What are bulb letters made from?
The standard material we use for our bulb letters is steel that we then powdercoat. Once the letters start to get large then we likely to use aluminium instead so as to keep the weight down. If you prefer acrylic then we can of course make them from that too. We design and produce all of our letters here in the UK meaning that we’re very flexible in how we make things and will work with you to meet your requirements.
Are tall bulb letters available?
We can produce our bulb letters in any size within reason. Some considerations we make are the sheet size of the materials we work with, but we can normally find solutions to join sheets together. It’s best if you tell us the size you’d like and we can get back to you with the best way to produce your letters to that size.
Can bulb letters self-stand?
Yes. As our bulb letter lights are all custom made, we can produce them to either be fixed to a wall or to self-stand.
